Treatment for sand fleas
Well, if you notice
itchy welts just after you have returned from
your beach trip, it is a sand flea bite. Sand
fleas live on beaches, buried in sand and
mainly come out at night in the search of
food. Fleas are parasitic in nature as they
prey birds and mammals. Sand fleas are a common
sight in North Pacific region where they target
various fishes such as flying fish, sword
fish,star fish and other small
fishes. However, if you want to be free from
flea bite of sand fleas, make sure you follow
certain steps such as:
Never go out in beach during rainy seasons
as sand flea is active during damp and humid
conditions. If you go in such a weather conditions,
you will catch sand flea bite. Therefore,
before venturing out, generously apply an
insect repellent that is effective on fleas.
While sitting on the back, carry yourself
a mat or a relaxing chair as fleas target
upon legs, calves and ankles. A mat or a chair
helps you in avoiding direct exposure to the
beach. This will help you in staying away
from sand flea infestation.
Incase you are suffering from a sand flea
bite; apply an anti itch cream as it provides
instant relief. In order to avoid flea infestations,
ensure you wear a pair of sandals so as to
avoid flea bites. Walking with bare feet increases
the chances of flea bite. If you are suffering
from flea bite and looking for home remedies
for fleas, you can apply eucalyptuses oil
on the welt as it offers antiseptic qualities.
Usually, the welts that are caused by fleas
result in rashes and itching sensation. Therefore,
do not scratch them as it can aggravate the
welt. If the rashes are giving watery discharge,
visit a doctor and get an antibiotic treatment.
Fleas are a niggling problem if they are not
treated fully. Incase your house faces flea
infestation; you can go forth for home remedies
for fleas that includes sprinkling of borax
powder and vacuuming your house on regular
basis. This helps you in making your house
free from unwanted fleas. The use of borax
has to be done judiciously as it is harmful
for kids and pets. Incase your pet is infested
with sand fleas; you can treat it with antibiotics,
flea comb, flea shampoo and flea collar.
