Getting rid of
fleas is very important as they carry various
diseases and transmit them onto human and
animals. Fleas generally breed in humid and
warm temperature and make blood their feast.
Fleas are often carried in house along with
pets and once they find their hosts they start
reproducing and spreading themselves. So,
it is very important to take care of your
home and your pets.
Hence, the first step which you should take
is to check your pets and the environment
in which they live. You should give bath to
your pet almost on every alternative day with
anti flea shampoos as these shampoos contain
chemicals which kill the pests. And it is
advisable to give your pet rubber bedding
instead of thick rags because it is easy to
clean and secondly thick rags are quite warm
and can give house to fleas and are tough
to maintain.
Along with this, flea dips are also a good
option for your pets but keep them away from
the eyes, nose, and mouth of your pet. Pyrethrins
and linalool are some of the flea dips ingredients
that are available in the market which you
can opt for but it is recommended to choose
according to the need and requirement knowing
all its side effects. You can also use flea
comb, flea powder and flea collar to keep
away your pets form fleas and diseases spread
because from them.
Herbal oils like lemongrass, lavender, eucalyptus,
cedar can also be applied to avoid flea infestation.
Along with taking care of your pets, your
house also needs care to get rid of fleas.
As you bring your pets inside your home fleas
can easily be transferred. The first thing
to do is vacuuming your house and take extra
care of corners, crevices, dark places, cracks
and basements. While doing this try to avoid
bringing your pets inside your house. And
once you are done immediately remove the bag
from vacuum and dump it.
In the lawns keep trimming the extra grass
and shrubs and make sure proper sunlight can
enter into your house as fleas cannot survive
in hot and dry areas. Do not make piles of
garbage in your yard or near your house. The
use of some insecticides can also help you
in getting rid of fleas; just follow the instructions
mentioned on the label.
