Ways of Natural Flea Control
Fleas are tiny
parasitic insects that suck blood of the host
on which they live and breed. They are usually
found in the hair of animals like dogs, cats
and other pets and the presence of fleas in
your home can infest even you also. Flea infestation
can be very dangerous at times as they feed
on the host’s blood, and prolonged exposure
to these parasites can lead to gradual blood
loss and lead to anaemia. Flea bites appear
on the host’s skin in the form of red
spots, gradually the affected area starts
swelling and cause a sensation of itching,
irritation, pain and inflammation. Reaction
of each pet is different from that of the
other because it depends upon the pet’s
individual resistance to fleas, its immunity
condition and allergic reaction. Fleas are
also capable of transmitting dangerous diseases
like plague.
One of the flea treatment methods that pet
owners are recently looking forward to is
natural flea control. This can be a safe and
secure method to get rid of fleas in a natural
way, without the use of any chemicals. Natural
products for flea treatments like natural
shampoos, natural powders, natural sprays
and flea brushes are made of 100% natural
ingredients, and are very effective in getting
rid of these pesky parasites. You can also
opt for a flea collar which emits vapours
that are dangerous for fleas, and thus keep
them away.
Besides using natural flea control methods,
you can also go for some home remedies for
fleas which include keeping your pets clean,
bathing it at least once a week, brushing
it daily, regularly vacuuming your house,
lawn and garden and thoroughly cleaning it
and washing all the fabrics in your home including
curtains, carpets, rugs and beddings that
frequently come in contact with the infested
pet. Before emptying your home, you must sprinkle
some borax powder or diatomaceous earth on
the carpet and leave it for 2 minutes, this
will kill the fleas and their eggs likely
to be present on it. Although these powders
are non-toxic and natural, it is still dangerous
to breathe in them. So it is advisable for
you to keep your dogs, children and other
family members away from them. In your lawn
also, you must keep your bushes and trees
trimmed and clean, so that any possibility
of fleas is kept away from your pets.
